D’Angelo’s “Brown Sugar” fueled by debuted single of the same name making his mark in modern soul and as a nostalgic figure. The album’s sound is completed with keyboard sounds, sensual vocals and smooth melodies. The Hazel-eyed singer gives his blend of 1970s R&B with hip hop while also encompassing the sounds of blues, jazz, gospel in a contemporary fashion.

It’s all LIGHTS in The District. Returning this year to Yards Park is Light Yards, the neighborhood illuminating outdoor Light Art installations. First, experience ThePool, an installation by illuminating circular pads of light by hopping, skipping and jumping. As each participant jumps or skips on the pads, it creates an entire canvas of fading lights changing colors.
Angels of Freedom is the last part of the installation series. This piece allows visitors to engage in the full social sculptural installation by revealing their “inner beauty of an angel” by posing in front of the 5ft tall life-sized neon colored winged angels.
